Middle Button Island National Park

Middle Button Island National Park is a small yet ecologically significant protected area located in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India. Covering an area of approximately 64 square kilometers, this national park is part of the larger Rani Jhansi Marine National Park and is known for its rich marine biodiversity, pristine coral reefs, and diverse wildlife.

The park, along with North and South Button Islands, forms a crucial conservation zone for marine ecosystems in the region. The waters surrounding Middle Button Island are teeming with vibrant coral reefs that provide a habitat for numerous marine species, including clownfish, angelfish, butterflyfish, sea anemones, and mollusks. It is also home to larger marine creatures such as sea turtles, dugongs (sea cows), and various species of rays and reef sharks.

The island itself is covered in tropical and coastal vegetation, offering shelter to a variety of birds, reptiles, and small mammals. The waters are crystal-clear, allowing visitors to witness the incredible marine life up close. However, access to the park is strictly regulated to ensure minimal human impact on its fragile ecosystem.

Among the notable bird species found here are white-bellied sea eagles, herons, and kingfishers, making it a great spot for birdwatchers. Due to its unspoiled environment and thriving underwater world, Middle Button Island is an excellent destination for snorkeling and scuba diving.

The best time to visit is between December and April, when the sea is calm and the weather is favorable for exploration. Middle Button Island National Park remains one of the most beautiful and untouched marine sanctuaries in India, offering a rare glimpse into the breathtaking underwater world of the Andaman Islands.
